The penguin viewing has accelerated rapidly!

Now we are pleased to announce that 365 days a year, our free guided tour is available to all of our guests.

On our guided tour you will witness the nightly parade of penguins emerging from the water and view their activities from one of our viewing decks. We have found that by providing these tours, our guests not only enjoy watching these cute little creatures in their natural environment but also become very interested in the plight of these penguins and other native animals of Tasmania.  

Recently, Diamond Island Resort has worked with Bruce and Maureen Englefield at Natureworld, located just up the road, to allow non-guests to join the tour by making a donation to the ‘save the devil fund’.

Our penguins have already collected quite a sum of money for Bruce and the devils and all donators receive a tax receipt for their charitable donation. Diamond Island Resort does not wish to profit from the penguins but to allow guests from everywhere to see them in their natural habitat.

We like to think of this as the penguins helping the devils.

 

With the new penguin viewing decks complete, we set up a night vision camera to capture their reaction and make sure they were not impacted by the installation.

We think they look pretty happy!! They continue to pass the deck each night and often pause to look at the funny creatures standing on the deck stairing at them....!

 

We are very proud to announce the opening of” VILLA 1856”.

This is the original homestead sleeping quarters renovated and decorated to 4.5 star standard. There is a spa and a separate TV room. The villa sleeps 2 and has magic views. You can enjoy the same views and sleep in the same room as the original 1856 owners.

Tariff is $400 a night. Please ring to book over the Christmas Season as we will not release the Villa until February for the world market.
